Our third cohort meeting for the Capitol Pathways interns expanded their professional growth and provided them with more opportunities to reflect on their experiences thus far. In late April, our student interns attended a networking workshop to learn how to navigate networking opportunities in their future academic and professional careers. They practiced both with their peers and in the large group for informational interviews and large networking events. Students also spent time writing their personalized elevator speeches.
The students got to hear first-hand experiences from our alumni panel composed of Umar Hassan (2018), Tenzin Dhakong (2018), and Kevin Huynh (2020). Our panelists shared their individual paths since participating in the Capitol Pathways program, giving the current students opportunities to ask questions and consider the options with which this program provides them. We would also like to thank our guest speaker Representative Kaohly Her (DFL) District: 64A for joining us to share her story and career trajectory with the students!
Following the cohort meeting, we held our first in-person social hour of the year, where students put their learnings into practice, networking with program alumni, host supervisors and other program supporter and friends.
