It’s the framework for our government, formally establishing our founding laws and beliefs–the Constitution. These days, it’s also a buzzword that figures into many of the hot-button discussions of the age – be it civil rights, free speech, gay marriage, budget-deficits, or the place of money in politics. But is the Constitution a “sacred document” or a “malleable work-in-progress”? What’s your knowledge of what it says, or what it means? Join us as the Current’s Steve Seel leads a discussion with University of Minnesota Political Science Professor Tim Johnson to dispel some of the myths, and to try to turn down the rhetoric about our much misunderstood document.

Tim Johnson is Morse Alumni Distinguished Teaching Professor of Political Science at the University of Minnesota. His research and teaching interests include American Politics, judicial politics, Supreme Court decision-making, and he is the author of “Oral Arguments and Decision Making on the U.S. Supreme Court” and several articles on a wide range of judicial topics.
