Join us for our next Interconnected: Rural – Urban Conversation on November 13, 2024.

Nearly 17% of Minnesota residents are now over the age of 65, an increase of more than 5% since the year 2000. Further, as older members of the Baby Boomer generation age into their late 70s, the demand for skilled nursing beds will likely increase – yet Minnesota has lost 33% of its skilled nursing beds since 2005.

How our state provides care and support for older adults is a critical policy concern, especially in light of alarming data highlighting nursing home closures and financial challenges across the state. Join us for an expert panel conversation about this crisis and a new report from the Center for Rural Policy and Development on the future of nursing homes and elder care in greater Minnesota.

Panelists:

  • Kim Brenne, Interim Division Director of Nursing Facility Rates and Policy, Minnesota Department of Human Services
  • Erin Huppert, Vice President of Advocacy, LeadingAge Minnesota
  • Kathy Messerli, Executive Director, Minnesota Home Care Association
  • Barb Jezorski, RN and COO, Tru Healthcare
  • Jason Anderson, Director of Long-Term Care Services, Sanford Canby Medical Center – Sylvan Court & Sylvan Place
  • Moderator: Kate Raddatz, McClung PR
