A message from Citizens League Executive Director Kate Cimino.

It is with mixed emotions that I share the news that Amanda Koonjbeharry, our Director of Public Policy, will be departing the League for a new role at Tunheim, a public relations and communications firm. We are excited for Amanda’s new opportunity, and she will truly be missed at the League.

Amanda has been a tremendous contributor to our work and has advanced our mission in significant ways in just over two years at the League. She has helped deepen our commitment to centering those most impacted in developing policy ideas and solutions. Her work on the Saint Paul Community-First Public Safety Commission and the Met Transit Safety Conversation was exceptional, and made a meaningful impact on important issues in our community during a pivotal time. And her unique idea to lift up and highlight everyday community leaders – an idea that became the statewide #MNCivicLeader campaign and event – helped the Citizens League re-frame civic leadership as something every person can do, every day.

Beyond the work itself, Amanda has been a valued and trusted member of our team. Her energy, dedication, thoughtful insights, and deep questions helped strengthen our team; we are all better for having had Amanda as a colleague. On a personal note, I am grateful that my first year as executive director of the Citizens League included working with such a wonderful colleague and partner.

We wish Amanda the very best in her new role at Tunheim, and we’re excited to see her impact through this new role in public affairs and public relations. Amanda’s last day at the League will be Friday, October 1st.

We are eager to find our next Director of Public Policy and encourage you to spread the word about this opportunity! Click here for the position description.

We’ll have a chance to hear from Amanda before her departure at our September 30th virtual Community Update & Annual Meeting, where she will lead a roundtable discussion on our recent public safety projects. You’ll hear from individuals involved with this work on how we’ve made progress together on these pressing issues.
