Applying the lessons learned at 3M to public policy

With: Alex Cirillo, Vice President for Community Affairs, 3M

3M is famous for its innovation -- but can the principles and processes it uses be applied to our public policy challenges? Join us for an interactive and constructive conversation, the first in the Imagination Works series.

About the series:

We're at a point in time where more-of-the-same isn't enough to solve our policy dilemmas, and where interest in civic engagement is growing dramatically. We believe better policy ideas (a new imagination) and the ability to engage Minnesotans in making them "work" are inherently connected:
  • What are the big ideas we need to address our policy concerns?
  • What are the new engagement processes that will produce and sustain this innovation?
The Imagination Works series will:
  • Promote innovative policy ideas and processes
    • It will stretch our policy imagination, to spotlight the opportunities for policy-entrepreneurship and breakthrough solutions on the issues that matter most to Minnesotans.
    • It will highlight the methods to sustain and implement these ideas: to demonstrate the connection between innovative policy processes and the ability both to generate new ideas and to implement these ideas.
  • Build a culture of civic/policy innovation: It will use interactive formats and technologies to expand this conversation and build new relationship and opportunities to take action on these ideas.
