What's the real story on China? We're not just about to watch nations compete at the Summer Olympics in Beijing, we're watching the emergence of a new international "super-competitor," which will have a huge impact on our economy, our national security and our quality of life right here in Minnesota.
But too often, media coverage of China focuses on the relationship in stark terms. All bad, or all good. What's the real story? The fact of the matter is that Minnesota, despite being a landlocked state over 6,000 miles from Beijing, has strong ties to China. To what extent is our fate tied to China's? What does their emergence mean for us in Minnesota and the United States?
Join Ambassador Alan Holmer (Special Envoy for China and the Strategic Economic Dialogue), Tony Lorusso (Executive Director of the Minnesota Trade Office) and moderator Steve Seel from 89.3 The Current to talk about the complicated U.S.-China trade relationships -- and what it means for Minnesota.
After Party
And, after the main event, join us for another Policy and a Pint after party. Come on over to the Red Room at the Loring Pasta Bar (just around the corner) to continue the conversation and meet other folks from the Citizens League. The after party is hosted by the Citizens League's Emerging Leaders Committee.
