In praise of 2020

Seeing the 2020 Caucus -- now called the 2020 Conference -- at work has been a great experience. The talent, as well as the realization and the hope that a better politics is possible, have been clear from the beginning.

Here's a link to their recent press conference introducing a new long term care proposal.

Here's more from Senate Media Services -- the full press conference.

Some quick thoughts:
* This is a model for bipartisan politics that solves problems more effectively. The ideas and conversations are better when you have a diverse set of opinions, and their recommendations should be more "implementable" because they emerge from this process.
* This is a model for public policy that preserves and builds civic capacity and social capital, while addressing an issue that will bankrupt us if we don't "do something".
* I need to smile and stop talking with a clenched jaw.
