Honing a Message: Newsmakers Interview

I was interviewed yesterday as a part of Comcast's Newsmakers segment. (Look for a picture here soon as proof.) The four-minute segment will run on CNN's Headline News once a day (!) through August. (I can't find a link to the local show.) The exposure will be great -- and I think the show is a fantastic community service. Colleen Needles was approachable, interesting and very professional.

It was a great exercise for me to get to the point. I much prefer the 14-minute format to the four-minute one because I can ramble. But it was good for me -- and I even came up with a new way of describing the Citizens League:

The Citizens League is a civic organization of people who love Minnesota -- and who want to make it better by solving public problems.

This seems much better than the dry-as-toast-but-accurate "independent, non-partisan, multi-issue, citizen-based-public-policy group..." (gasp) answer.

Feedback on the new sentence is welcome!

Sean, I agree, I like your new one sentence description of the CL. It is crisper and a bit "sexier." Keep up the good work.
